Port Arthur Historic Site

From June to October of 2015 I completed my first major project by capturing images of the night sky over Port Arthur's Historic Site. The images are the first of their type to be captured by any photographer and are unique.

The project took around 4 months to complete and I traveled over 3000 Kilometres spending 14 nights alone in a place well known for its dark history. To create these images required a huge commitment of my time and patience, most nights were bitterly cold and I had to sleep in my car while the images were captured. It was an experience that I will never forget

I am not embarrassed to say that I was quite scared while I walked the site at night. Being alone at 3 am in a place that is said to be haunted certainly makes your mind play tricks on itself. Combine this with the fact that someone tried to steal my equipment on the first night meant that at most times my mind was screaming at me to get out of there and go home to my nice, safe, warm bed.

I have documented my experience and how I created the images and will be releasing it as a blog. If you want to read more about the story, see what equipment I used and learn about what it takes to achieve these results please keep an eye out on my Facebook page. www.facebook.com/WILKOGRAPHY

All of the images are for sale through my online store. The prices are based on the fact that they are not available anywhere else, the effort it took to create them and how unique they are. It took many hours to capture, create and process them, the star trail pictures alone contain a combination of more than 800 images and took up to 20 hours to complete.

I ask that you respect my work and do not use the images without consent. All pictures are copyrighted and must not be used without written permission from Ben Wilkinson of Wilkography.
